The initiation of adults is the responsibility of all the baptised, generally a smaller group of people takes primary responsibility for day-by-day contacts. The following roles are basic to generating an effective RCIA in a parish

We meet weekly (a weekday evening) in church for lessons, fellowship, support and encouragement.
Immediately after the Rite of Acceptance, Catechumens are invited for lectionary-based formation with small group sharing on Sunday mornings for further faith deepening
A group of dedicated people carries out a variety of
functions and to support the process. Members exercise special
skills and
gifts. They also undertake to be open to the
effects of RCIA on themselves, to support each other, and to share practical
duties
as they are able.
The role of the sponsor is key to the experience of the inquirer, sharing
their experience and the link between the inquirer and the
parish community. The sponsor may or may not be
someone who already knows the inquirer. One sponsor is assigned to
journey with one or two catechumen(s) of the same sex.
Godparents
Godparents accompanies the candidates on the
day of election, at the celebration of the sacraments of initiation and during
the
period of mystagogy. It is
the responsibility of godparents to show candidates how to
practise the Gospel in personal and social
life, to sustain the candidates in moments of hesitancy and anxiety, to bear witness and to
guide the candidates' progress in the
baptismal life.
